This is a selection of some of the paintings I did in the last few years. All of my paintings can be found in the Gallery section.

The love story of Pedro and Inês de Castro is Portugal's most poignant, real-life tale of passion and tragedy. Inês, a lady-in-waiting, and Pedro, the crown prince, fell deeply in love, but their romance was forbidden due to political reasons. "Pedro and Inês", oil on canvas, 70 cm x 50 cm. In my opinion, this is one of my best paintings ever.

Sometimes beauty is where you least expect it to be, not in far away places but so close that you forget it is there for you to enjoy it. Sometimes, it only takes to look out of your own window to find it. "Out there", oil on canvas, 35 cm x 27 cm.

It's amazing how some abstract brush strokes on a flat surface, loaded with paint of different hues, tones and intensity, can combine to create an illusion of depth, light, shadow, reality. Can there be anything more contemporary (in fact, timeless) than this? "The Danube, in Vienna", oil on canvas, 50 cm x 40 cm.

Not all people can have their own bosquet, but this is not the case of my friend Mário Bernardes who, in addition to his very own bosquet, has an orchard, a vegetable garden, and a large piece of land, that keep him happy, although very busy. "Bosquet at Casal da Estrada (Condeixa)", oil on canvas, 40 cm x 50 cm.

Back in January 2019, I painted several derelict houses in downtown Coimbra, exploring both the decay of the buildings and an exaggerated perspective of the passersby. The painting turned out so interesting that I decided to do a second version, from a slightly different point of view: ""Old houses in downtown Coimbra II" (oil on canvas, 70cm x 50cm).

Saint Anthony of Lisbon, also known as Saint Anthony of Padua, was a 13th-century Franciscan friar and renowned preacher, born in 1195 in Lisbon, Portugal. Saint Anthony is believed to have had the gift of bilocation, a miraculous ability attributed to certain saints, allowing them to be in two places simultaneously. This ability inspired my new painting which, in my opinion, is one of my best: “Saint Anthony”, oil on canvas, 70 cm x 50 cm.

Painting is creating an illusion. By applying paint on a flat surface, the painter seeks to create the sensation of depth, texture, light and shadow, reflections, and many other qualities. The challenge reaches its highest point when painting water: "Boats at Vila Nova de Milfontes", oil on canvas, 60 cm x 50 cm.

Vila Nova de Milfontes is a coastal village in Alentejo, in the south of Portugal. As any other Portuguese village, it is full of narrow streets that on sunny days create amazing light and shadow effects, perfect for photographers and painters: "Narrow street in Vila Nova de Milfontes", oil on canvas, 60 cm x 40 cm.

Here's another painting. I think this one turned out quite fine and I hope you like it too: "Nightfall in Portimão's riverfront" (oil on canvas, 50cm x 60cm). It reminds me of calm, lovely days during my holidays.
